Build a home inventory on your device without an insurance cloud

Home Inventory keeps rooms and items in the browser. You can export a report. We do not receive the list of what you own.

After a move, a leak, or a policy renewal, someone asks what you owned. A photo dump in a camera roll is not a room-by-room list. Insurance apps will store that list for you. They will also store it on their side.

Home Inventory is a private list. Rooms, items, and notes stay in the tab’s storage on your computer. Export when you need a PDF or a file you control.

Why a local list

A home inventory is a map of value and of serial numbers. It can include jewellery notes, bike frames, and the TV in the lounge. That is not a social post. Client-side means the page sends code to you. Your browser holds the catalog. We do not get a copy to “sync.”

If the tool saves drafts, it uses storage in that browser. Clearing site data clears the list. Export before you wipe a laptop. That is the honest backup: you choose the drive, not us.

How to use it

  1. Open https://tools.sw-commercial.com/home.
  2. Add rooms the way you walk the house, not the way a warehouse is zoned.
  3. Add items with enough detail that a future you would recognise them.
  4. Export a report when a broker or a claim form asks. Keep the export with your policy PDF.

You do not create an account. You do not invite a “home admin” from our company.

Photos of items

If you attach pictures, treat them like the rest of the file tools: they are on the device unless you export and email them yourself. Do not photograph passwords or the inside of a safe and then leave the tab open on a shared PC.

Sibling lists on the same host: Moving Checklist for the move itself, Travel Planner for a trip. Different jobs. Same private model.

What we do not do

We do not store your inventory. We do not sell a lead to an insurer. Ads, if shown, are labeled and do not receive the list. File converters are on Tool Hub.

For AdSense reviewers and for you: real URL, local list, export is how the data leaves the tab.

A worked example

Make three rooms: lounge, kitchen, bedroom. Add the television with brand and size, the bicycle with a serial field if you have it, and the laptop. Export. Open the export on another app you already use. Confirm you can read it without our site. That is the test: the list is yours.

Do not photograph every receipt into the tool if you are on a shared computer. Export and delete site data when you are done on a hotel laptop.

Claims and insurance

An inventory is not a valuation. Brokers and policies have their own rules. We do not appraise. We do not file a claim. The report is a list you generated. Keep photos of serial plates in a folder you control if the export is text-only.

When to skip this tool

Skip it if you need multi-user editing across a family with live sync. That needs an account product. Skip it if you want a public “what I own” page. This tool is private by design.

Related days in this reverse series: travel and meals are other local lists. File tools remain a different job on Tool Hub. The Chrome extension does not replace Home Inventory.

FAQ

Do you upload the file or the paste?

No. Home Inventory runs in your browser. We do not run an upload API for this job. If a model file downloads on first use, that is a program, not your document.

Do I need an account?

No. Open the page and use it. Free use does not start with an email wall. Optional Pro on other products is a one-time key; it is not required to try Home Inventory.

What happens if I clear the site data?

Drafts in the browser disappear. Exports you already downloaded stay on your disk. That is why we say export when the result matters.

Can I use this on a phone?

Yes, if the browser can pick a file or paste text. Heavy models are slower on a phone. That is your device doing the work, not a queue on our GPU.

Do ads see the content?

Labeled ads, if shown, do not receive the file or the paste. The SW Toolbox extension has 0 ads. This page is a webpage tool on tools.sw-commercial.com.

How does this sit in the August 2026 series?

From 22 August backward, the catalog blog names one live product per day. Home Inventory is the product for this date. Sibling days cover other tools on the same host, then PlayNest on learning.sw-commercial.com (24 August) and SW Toolbox (25 August).

Multi-user sync?

No. One browser is one copy. Export to share.

Valuation?

We do not appraise items. The export is a list you typed, locally.

For AdSense reviewers: the URL above is live. The steps are the product. There is no placeholder converter behind the link.
