Why these web tools do not ask you for an account

Most web tools greet you with a signup wall. Convert a file, then create a password, then confirm an email, then decline a newsletter. The account is not a courtesy. It is how the company attaches your documents to a user id on their disk.

SW Commercial does not do that for the core tools. You open the site. You pick a file on your computer. You download the result. There is no SW Commercial login for HEIC conversion, PDF merge, invoices, or resumes.

What an account is for

An account makes sense when the product is a cloud: your files live there, your collaborators need a share link, your billing needs a seat. Google Drive is an account product. A hospital portal is an account product. A client-side converter is not.

If we required a login, we would be implying that we have something of yours to attach it to. We do not want that implication, and we do not want that database.

How settings work without a user id

Drafts, if a product keeps them, use storage in your browser (localStorage or similar) on your device. Clear the site data and the drafts go with it. That is a real tradeoff. It is also honest: the state was never on our server.

Pro licenses are one-time keys, not monthly members. For SW Toolbox Pro you paste a SW-TBX- key in the Chrome extension. The check runs on the device. We do not run a license server that reads your files. Polar handles checkout as merchant of record. We do not store your card number.

The few times something leaves the tab

The live file tools do not send the document to a password-manager login with us.

If a product ever needs a real account, it will say so on that product. The catalog default is no account.

Ads are not a login

Some pages may show labeled Google ads. That is a separate script. It is not a user profile we issue. You can use the tools with a content blocker; the conversion still runs because it does not depend on an ad user id. The Chrome extension has 0 ads.

Why this is slower to “personalize” and better for a camera roll

We cannot show you “recent files” from last month on a new phone. We cannot recover a merge you forgot to download. Those are cloud features. They require us to hold the file.

What you get instead: a school photo or a statement PDF that did not become a row in a startup’s object store. For most of the jobs on sw-commercial.com, that is the correct trade.

How to start

Open the catalog. Pick a live product. For HEIC or PDF, start at tools.sw-commercial.com. For invoices, invoice.sw-commercial.com. For resumes, resume.sw-commercial.com. You do not create an account first.

Sync, loss, and the honest backup

No account means no “restore my work on a new laptop” button from us. If you care about a resume draft in Rezimo or an invoice in Invoice Studio, export it. Email the PDF to yourself or put it in the drive you already pay for. That is you choosing a cloud, not us becoming one by default.

Clearing site data removes drafts stored in the browser. Export before you wipe a device.

What we ask instead of a password

Read the privacy policy. Use the product help address on the About page if a tool breaks. That is the whole relationship for free tools. We would rather answer a support mail than store a hashed password next to a file we never needed.

This is the operating rule of the site, not a teaser for a future login wall.

Simon Wong writes the how-tos after using the live tools. The byline is a person, not an anonymous brand bot. If a page still says “coming soon,” there is no signup wall hiding behind it either — the product is simply not on the public internet yet.

SW Toolbox at tools.sw-commercial.com/extension does not use a login for the free file tools in Chrome. Kindergarten games (PlayNest) are launching soon on their own host; they are not listed as live until that host returns HTTPS 200.
